About

Big Bear Valley residents must pass ballot Measure U in June 2025 to ensure the Bear Valley Community Hospital can continue providing quality healthcare services to our mountain community.

In November 2024, Big Bear voters gave a resounding YES on Measure U, which enables our hospital to maintain its current funding & budget through a small annual tax on land parcels. This is not a new tax. It has been in place for more than thirty years, since 1994. In fact, for 82% of residents, your taxes will even go down with this new measure.

Due to a technicality in state law, brought forth after election day, the measure passed last year was found to be out of compliance. All necessary adjustments have since been made and now residents must reaffirm their support for healthcare by voting YES ON U between May 27 and June 24 via mail-in balloting.

If Measure U fails, our local hospital will lose crucial funding. Significant cuts will have to be made to healthcare services, which will jeopardize our 24/7 access to emergency care.

Measure U is vital to our mountain community quality of life and absolutely deserves your support.  Local doctors, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, police, and Bear Valley residents urge you to vote YES on Measure U.
